I usually don’t like to explain my art. I believe everyone should be free to see — and hear — whatever they need to. But for this song, I want to share a little of what lives beneath the surface. It touches the quiet emotions we all feel when certain people or messages reach us — the subtle triggers… and then, the unexpected joy of giving. In Hebrew, the word V’Nusni (ונתנו) reads the same forward and backward; a reminder that what comes around, goes around. There are days when we are the ones giving, and there are days when we are the ones receiving. That rhythm is universal. No matter where we come from, giving is a beautiful gift. In this Lyrical Clip, I have decided to not only add translations but also Transliteration. This way, people who do not read or speak Yiddish can now learn the language through the song. And here is a little back story for you. Lipa meets Heedy and sees his talent and potential. Heedy tells Lipa that they have met long ago, when Heedy was just nine years old. In fact, back then, Lipa has offered having Heedy on a show. Nevertheless, Heedy's teachers were not in agreement that Heedy should be in a show. Heedy is telling Lipa that the incident of losing such an opportunity left him wounded. Now Lipa is offering Heedy to join in coming full circle again and collaborate on a song: 'I Forgive Myself." I recently reconnected with Heedy and was completely blown away by his incredible talent as a pianist and vocalist. He reminded me that we had actually met years ago when he was just a nine-year-old kid. Back then, he was a huge fan, watching me sing, and even joined in with a tiny little song of his own. I remembered offering his family to take him on a show, but his teachers didn’t allow it. Today, I say to Heedy, “Let’s head over to my recording studio, ‘The Studyo,’ and create something truly meaningful.” We’ve come full circle, but now we’re in a much better place. Moments like this are one of the great gifts I receive from the universe in my journey. — Lipa
